What would you highlight about Casa Bakala

Good

Couldn’t get more rustic than cabins put together without a security wall around. Very unique experience. I was the only person staying there. The staff was a middle aged man who didn’t speak English but was very courteous and attentive. Made a creamy chicken salad for me and put it in the fridge after I spoke with the owner/host about food options since there were no restaurants or stores around. He also brought fresh fruit for breakfast and made sure I had water and coffee all day. The owner/ host also recommended a boat tour that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Geckos everywhere haha. They would leave little presents on my bed after which I had to request for the sheets to be changed. The place was a little difficult to find. No working wifi was available. I didn’t feel 100% safe because of no boundary walls on the property. Literally anybody could walk in if they wanted to.

Better options out there for this price

To begin with, the place does not even have a sign to indicate where it is. It’s directly on the street across a club with poor isolation - meaning the noise in the room resembled a dance floor. The breakfast was a plate of fruit, the towels still had the price tag on, overall a very weird experience. We were alone on the property so the shared bathroom was somewhat private, however they did not even have a hairdryer - hence the place does not correspond to the price - neither as quality, nor as location, facilities or anything at all.

Amazing, it is a wonderful cheap option and it really helps you unwind in this beautiful town.

The breakfast includes fruits, coffee and tea. However, our host was amazing- he purchased special tacos ( Cochinita Pibil) for us to taste one of the delicacies of Bacalar. We were so grateful- he was a wonderful host!

Jorge the owner is extremely friendly and helpful, one of the best host we ever had! He is really taking care of his clients and his philosophy is to make them happy about their trip in Bacalar, mission accomplished for us! Compared to other places in Bacalar this is most likely one of the best price for value that you can get.

It was only one street back from the free beach at the lagoon. We were able to check-in earlier. They try

Would be a quality hostel style accomodation at the appropriate price, but it was our most expensive accomodation in all of mexico so far and definitely the lowest standard. We were completely mislead by the 9.9 rating it had and do not understand how that is possible....it has potential - maybe they are new to the whole thing and just need a little bit more time...
